Speaker 1: Dr. Larry Zhang
Title: Role of Consumer Electronics at the Internet Age
Biography

Dr. Larry Zhang has worked for Texas Instruments, Inc. (TI) from January 1996 on product quality and reliability, device and process performance assessment, hardware and software for test and production support. His experiences cover wireless communications products, GSM, CDMA, EDGE, and Bluetooth transceivers, ZigBee and low power wireless transceivers, DRAM and FLASH memories, high performance analog devices, high precision analog devices, analog to digital and digital to analog converters, audio and video processors. He has published more than 30 papers and filed more than 10 US patents on innovations on parallel and low cost testing and manufacturing.

Dr. Zhang has led many IEEE activities and is the president of the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society.  He obtained a PhD in Materials Sciences from University of Minnesota, Twin cities and MS and BS in Physics from Lanzhou University in China.

Speaker 2: Prof. Jen-Yao Chung
Title: From e-Business with Data to Intelligent Decisions
Biography Professor Jen-Yao Chung, IEEE Fellow, currently is the senior manager for Industry Technology and Solutions, IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, where he is responsible for identifying and creating emerging solutions with focus on "Green Computing and Business". Before that, he was Chief Technology Officer for IBM Global Electronics Industry. Before that, he was senior manager of the electronic commerce and supply chain department, and program director for the IBM Institute for Advanced Commerce Technology office.

He has been involved in research, development, and customer engagements in electronic commerce, electronic marketplaces, and Web application systems. Dr. Chung has participated in several industrial standards and workgroup including: Open buying on internet (OBI, openbuy.org), XML/EDI (xmledi-group.org), CommerceNet eCo framework (eco.commerce.net), RosettaNet.org, ebXML.org, and TPC-D. Dr. Chung has extensive experiences in the e-business innovations and engaged in several customer projects using web services technology to implement business integrations. Dr. Chung's current research is in green computing and technologies, e-marketplaces, XML and EDI, integrating existing business with the World Wide Web, and business process integration and management.

Dr. Chung is co-Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Service Oriented Computing and Applications (published by Springer). Dr. Chung is the co-founder and co-chair of the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Electronic Commerce (TCEC). Dr. Chung co-founded IEEE International Conference on e-Commerce Technology (CEC) and IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE). He has served as general chair and program chair for many international conferences. He has authored or coauthored over 170 technical papers in published journals or conference proceedings. He was awarded an IEEE Outstanding Paper award in 1995, two IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement awards, in 1994 and 2000, an IBM Outstanding Contribution award in 1997, and five IBM Research Division awards, in 1990, 1996, 2001 and 2008. He received ICEC2002 Best paper nomination. He is also a Distinguished Engineer of ACM.


Speaker 3: Prof. James C. Spohrer
Title: Service Science: Great Universities, Cities, and Businesses
Biography

Dr. James (“Jim”) C. Spohrer is the director of service research at IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, CA. Spohrer is pioneering the development of the emerging field known as Service Science, which seeks to understand service systems and improve service quality, productivity, compliance and innovation. As a founding advisor of the Service Research and Innovation Initiate, he works with global universities, governments and businesses to understand future skill needs for sustainable growth of knowledge-intensive service economies.

As CTO of IBM Venture Capital Group, he developed win-win relationships with emerging technology businesses across all areas of IBM’s business. Prior to joining IBM, Spohrer held the role of distinguished engineer, scientist and technologist at Apple Computer’s Advanced Technology Group, where he worked to establish Apple’s first on-line learning community and vision for the future of learning technologies. Spohrer earned a doctorate in computer science from Yale University in 1989 and a Bachelor of Science in physics from MIT in 1978.

Speaker 4: Dr. Jay Lim
Title: Moving beyond traditional technical solutions - Could Computing a solution?
Biography

Jay Lim has been in the Financial Markets trading and technology area for the last 30 years.  He has worked with many global banks like Deusche Bank (Germany), Norbanken (Sweden), ABN AMRO (Dutch) and have held position in local and Asia Pacific regional roles.  Jay is a Singaporean based mostly in the Regional Offices in Singapore and travel intensively to represent the voices and requirements of the Asia Pacific countries and regulatory requirements.

Jay’s possesses very wide and in-depth knowledge and experiences in the Financial Markets Trading and Technology world.  He held senior positions in ranging from Head of Treasury Department, Head of Treasury Sales & Marketing,  Head Asia Pacific Financial Markets eCommerce to setting up and implementing Global Treasury Risk Management Systems.   

Jay has left ABN AMRO Bank after an eventful 15 years to be an independent Financial Markets consultant.  He has consulted to the Global Markets in National Australia Bank Sydney and now with China Foreign Exchange Trading System (CFTES) working on Financial Market solutions for banks in China.

Speaker 5: Prof. Xiaotie Deng
Title: Pricing Models in Advertising Markets
Biography

in 1982, and his M. Sci. at Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China
in 1984, his Ph.D. at Stanford University, California, USA, 1989.

After finishing PhD, he received an International Research Fellowship from Natural Science and Engineering Council of Canada to do postdoctoral
research at Simon Fraser University, at British Columbia, Canada. In 1991, he joined York University, Toronto, as an assistant professor,
and then tenured as an associate professor. In 1997,  he joined City University of Hong Kong. He is now a chair professor.

The research interests of Professor Deng include Algorithmic Game Theory, Internet Economics, Online Computing, and Combinatorial Optimization.
His current research projects include equilibrium computation and Internet market deisgn.

He has been elected ACM Fellow (2008) for his contributions to the interface of game theory and algorithmic methodologies.

Speaker 6: Dr. Hui Xiong
Title: Financial Fraud Detection with Data Mining Techniques
Biography

Dr. Hui Xiong received his Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota.  He is currently an Associate Professor at Rutgers University, where he received a two-year early promotion/tenure, the Rutgers University Board of Trustees Research Fellowship for Scholarly Excellence (2009), and an IBM ESA Innovation Award (2008). His general area of research is data and knowledge engineering, with a focus on developing effective and efficient data analysis techniques for emerging data intensive applications. He has published prolifically in refereed journals and conference proceedings. He is the co-editor of Clustering and Information Retrieval and the co-Editor-in-Chief of Encyclopedia of GIS. He is an Associate Editor of the Knowledge and Information Systems journal. He has served regularly in the organization committees and the program committees of a number of international conferences and workshops, such as AAAI, KDD, ICDE, CIKM,and ICML. Speaker 7: Dr. Lean Yu
Title: Bio-Inspired Computational Intelligence in Business and Industry
Biography

Lean Yu received his Ph.D. degree in Management Sciences and Engineering from Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He is currently an associate professor of Academy of Mathematics and Systems Sciences of CAS and a deputy director of International Market Forecasting Department in Center of Forecasting Sciences of CAS. He was a research fellow of City University of Hong Kong during 2005-2007 and Guest Professor of Konan University in Japan during 2008-2009. He is also appointed as an executive council member of International Society of Knowledge and Systems Sciences.

Biography
    He is professor, post doctorate, doctoral tutor and Associate Dean of the College of Economics and Business Administration, Chongqing University.
